Impossible List - 15 May

How far I've come over the course of the last month in regards to the impossible list of goals I've set for myself.

Professional

Still focused fully on getting fit and writing my book. So nothing exciting to report for projects or the like.

It's not an achievement or anything, but I keep thinking about how I would go about leveraging LLMs and Machine Learning to automatically search for, interpret and present news in real time. I could really do with winning the lottery right now, so many good ideas.

Health / Fitness

A month off statins didn't really have an effect so I've been set up to get a CAT scan and see if there is anything to see.

Marathon training is going well, I took a week off there when on holiday to Italy, but I came back and managed to run just fine. So in a good place, just have to keep upping my endurance and ability to run longer and longer distances.

Just also heard about a "Last One Standing" ultra marathon that I fancy taking part in.

My aim is to end this year pretty far down on the weight scale and higher up on the fitness scale in preparation to climb a big mountain in 2025.

Personal Skills

I've finished re-writing my book and and started up looking at editing it chapter by chapter. So far I've got back up to Chapter 3, but I really need to end May at Chapter 20, I'm falling behind on my plan.

Travel / Events

So Italy was a blast and I got to climb an peak in the Alps. We've planned a birthday trip to Pitlochry for Louise and booked everything for a trip to the BIEN Congress in Bath. Coming up we'll plan trips to climb the English Furths and to Copenhagen.

We've been floating an idea to go to America for Thanksgiving in 2025 and preparing for the cost will mean spreading out some trips, it is looking like we might need spread out the trips so that we have time to save for them.

Volunteering / Charity

There is a lot of change at Tayside Re-Users with staff coming in and going out. Generally we appear to lack the expertise to manage and grow our business so that we can really start to look at the problems we are solving strategically.

Don't know how we are going to change that. We could really welcome some energy in the board.

Education / Languages

I've continued with my DuoLingo work. Hopefully in the next 12 months I can get through and complete Russian. I might be good at that point to jump back into a Russian class. I'll look again at this come September.

Financial

Just working hard in my role as React Tech Lead and trying to sort out my shop and put everything into a good status.
